This paper, by project lead Chris Hein, presents the story of Plum Island and the Merrimack River in terms of how they fit into the larger story of barrier island formation in the Gulf of Maine following deglaciation 17,000 years ago. Due to copyright issues with this recent publication, we can not post the entire publication on this website. Hence, the link above only gives you the first page. The full manuscript can be found here, or email Chris at hein@vims.edu for a copy.
