McIntire and Morgan 1964

Study by William McIntire and James Morgan in 1964 of the stratigraphy of the marshes behind Plum Island. This is the first study to present a preliminary sea-level curve for northern Massachusetts. It also presents some of the earliest ideas on the formation of Plum Island – these are largely correct and form the foundation of our modern ideas of the formation of the Merrimack Embayment barrier island system.
